Good Morning,
I’m happy to announce that Hattie Carnegie has been added to Chapter Two, Collectible Jewelry Brands. The colorful title headings for all of the brands added to this chapter are designed by my talented granddaughter! Grandparents will understand when I say, the cover makes me gloriously happy whenever I look at it! Grandchildren are the best!!!
My husband Dan is helping me with the complexities of managing a website. He dedicated some time to improving the navigation through the site, and it is much better. A new Table of Contents is now fully functioning and will be updated with each new entry. In addition, the color scheme for the cover – created by my darling granddaughter – has been included in most pages to add unity to the overall look of the book. BTW, Dan makes me gloriously happy, too!
For now, I’m including pictures of the books I reference in the text of CCJ404. A bibliography with fully attributions is in the works. We have ideas for an automated index, too – but that will be down the road. I appreciate the huge contributions of each author to the world of jewelry knowledge. I’m gloriously in love with all of my jewelry books!
Please remember that this book is for beginning collectors and builds in difficulty. The first few sections of Chapter One are super easy. By the end of Chapter One, the goal is for beginning collectors to be fully comfortable with the six basic design elements and comfortable identifying them in jewelry designs. My daughter has been a huge asset as I work through these chapters. I’ve implemented each and every one of her suggestions. I don’t know how she finds the time to work, raise a family, and help me to RAISE this book! I’m gloriously in awe of her!
Chapter Two discusses the brand traits (if available) for the most collectible vintage brands. My goal is to immediately explore ten brands for Chapter Two and then to add more later. After the first ten brands are added to Chapter Two, I plan to begin adding brands to Chapter Three and then Chapter Four. This way the whole framework will be there, and I can add material at any time to expand the reference Chapters.
I love this new format for presenting jewelry material, I hope you do too. I feel so free! I am not limited by a page count or by the number of photos I want to include, and I can make changes as I learn new information – corrections AND additions. In the past I wished I could magically “pick” a piece of information out of my paper books. I have that “magic” power with this book.
A final word about the Contact page. We will reissue that page when we are confident it is secure. Anyone wishing to contact me can do so through the blog comments. ***They are NOT automatically published online. *** I must go through a process to make that happen. Write DO NOT PUBLISH and the comment will be for me only. Contact from a reader makes me gloriously happy, too.
FYI, I went to a nice Antique show yesterday with my daughter. I will write about that tomorrow. I also acquired a FABULOUS new Nolan Miller piece I hope to add to the website soon.
Happy Collecting and thank you for staying with me,
Love,
Julie
