About - Collecting Costume Jewelry 101

Welcome to my website! My name is Julia C. Carroll. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother, author, and life-long collector of vintage costume jewelry.

This website has three parts, all FREE. The first part is my fourth book titled Collecting Costume Jewelry 404 The Basics of Recognizing Great Design. The purpose of the book is to train the “jewelry eye” of a beginning or intermediate collector to identify the best, most enduring designs. Six basic elements of designs are defined and illustrated with examples. Viewing jewelry by defined design elements is a different way of evaluating jewelry.

The beginning collector who stays the course and learns to recognize these design elements in costume jewelry will improve their ability to spot jewelry with the best designs.

My eleven-year-old granddaughter created the cover design for CCJ404! I LOVE it!

The second part of this website is a blog about costume jewelry. The topics are wide ranging and varied. My goal is to write a blog at least once a week. I can be reached through the comments at the end of each blog. If you do not want your comments published, write DO NOT PUBLISH on the comment page and I will answer privately.

The third piece of this website is an Information category. This is the portal to research information that will be helpful to collectors and deserves to be preserved including catalogs, advertisements, and articles.

I want to thank my husband for helping me with the (ongoing) technical aspects of launching my own website. I also want to thank my children and grandchildren for their love and support.
