Jewelry 10

Today I want to share with you some basic research information on the hand-made jewelry brand “Jewelry 10”. The jewelry is beautifully made, distinctive, and whimsical.

I acquired an example of this jewelry, the elephant pin shown below, so I could better appreciate the artistry of this brand. Additional designs, all delightful, are available online or at auction. If you are not familiar with this brand, it is worth the time to explore the joyful jewelry produced by these artists.

Dates of Operation: 1987 – Present

“Jewelry 10” was founded by husband-and-wife artists Cynthia Chuang and Erh-Ping Tsai. Together they create hand-made jewelry using colored clay inlays and expert glazing techniques.

Mostly whimsical designs depicting natural themes, each adorable character is bursting with personality.

Our work not only captures the essence of living creatures around us, but also portrays the humoristic spirit in all of us.

From ear to tail, this adorable elephant pin measures 3 1/2″. The painting/glazing is beautifully done in shades of blue, white and black outlined in shiny gold. The tail and the forehead decorations are moveable.

The expressive eyes convey a sense of playful, youthful wonder at the world around him. He is clearly a happy elephant.

The front and back parts are connected, so the head moves when worn. As is typical of this jewelry, the clasp is glued in place.

The elephant is signed with the copyright symbol and “Jewelry 10” impressed into the unglazed back. The signature is faintly visible in the above photograph.

Many variations on the elephant pin were made; however, since each is hand-made they are all one-of-a-kind pieces.

Inspired by nature and created with joy, “Jewelry 10” jewelry is jewelry art at its best.

Happy Collecting

Love, Julie
