Julie’s First Blog Post

Welcome to my new website and blog. I’m the author of Collecting Costume Jewelry 101 the basics of starting, building & upgrading a collection and two additional books in the series.

The pandemic provided me with isolation, which was not fun, and time on my hands, which turned out to be fun. Using my library of jewelry books and many wonderful internet research sites; I wrote a new book in the series titled Collecting Costume Jewelry 404 the basics of recognizing great design (CCJ404).

My favorite set from Chapter One, Shapes.

I decided to post this new book online. My sweet husband created this website and is helping me learn to navigate it. He was stuck home in the pandemic, too! Slowly, I am working to adapt the manuscript to work in an online format. It is a wonderful challenge. The Introduction and the first part of Chapter One, Shape are completed and adapted for online publication. Additional sections to follow.

CCJ404 is written for beginning and intermediate collectors. It builds in difficulty and complexity.  As you read, think about the shapes of the jewelry in your own collection.

Our family, like too many around the world, suffered loss from the pandemic. Jewelry research, and writing about jewelry, has been a source of joy for me, especially in rough times. My goal with this blog and website is to write every week and share this joy online with other passionate collectors.

Thank you for reading my post.  Love, Julie
