I added two lovely Nolan Miller pins today to my collection. The huge, 4 1/4″ long faux coral and jade pin is called the Ann Margret Rose. The accompanying paperwork reveals that Nolan Miller and Ann Margret were friends. He created this beautiful pin to honor Ann Margret’s mother who died of lung cancer. A portion of the proceeds were donated to The Lung Cancer Research Fund of the Doctors Cancer Foundation.
The Ann Margret rose pin is an interesting design contrasting the soft, realistic looking faux coral and jade with the bold, eye-catching size. Is it possible the size of the truly beautiful piece represents the huge love Ann Margret had for her mother?
The correct name for the Camellia flower pin on the right is The Lara Ivory pin. The overall shape is a circle, a lovely circle with silver tone metal and rhinestone embellishments. This classic floral motif works with most colors, so it is a wonderfully wearable piece. Nolan Miller was a master at combining ivory plastic with metal and rhinestones.
Update: I’m working on adding “LINE” to Collecting Costume Jewelry 404 and hope to post it very soon.
Happy Collecting,
Julie
