I often shop with my daughter who is building her own collection of vintage jewelry. She recently acquired a rare Celebrity, N.Y. necklace to match a bracelet in her collection. Both pieces are beautifully designed and in great condition. In addition, they have an interesting history.
Celebrity N.Y. jewelry was sold through home parties. The dates are uncertain but likely from the 1950s through the 1970s. This beautiful set is especially pretty and was offered as a treat only for the hostess.
It was designed and manufactured by DeLizza & Elster. The signed Celebrity N.Y. set, including the matching pin and earrings, is featured on page 211 of The Art of Juliana Jewelry by Katerina Musetti, Schiffer Books, 2008. It was not unusual for a brand, like Celebrity to purchase stock, inhouse designs from manufacturers like DeLizza & Elster and have their logo attached to the jewelry.
DeLizza & Elster also sold this same design unsigned. Pages 207, 208 of Ann Pitman’s book Juliana Jewelry Reference DeLizza & Elster Collector Books, 2010 features the unsigned set also in pink.
It is unknown how many unsigned pieces of this design group DeLizza & Elster produced. However, the Celebrity N.Y. signed version of this design is rare in the collectible market.
Close view of the navette-shaped stones and their intricate floral motif arrangement.
The bracelet features the typical DeLizza & Elster five-link design.
It is signed on the clasp and with an oval cartouche attached to the necklace.
The back view of the necklace shows the DeLizza & Elster “rhinestone puddling”.

Happy Collecting. I hope you find something as interesting and lovely as this Celebrity set!
Love,
Julie
