Bi-Color Treasure

Good morning,

Last week I was delighted to find this beautiful brooch and earrings set featuring bi-color rhinestones. It is unsigned.

The pin measures 2 1/2″ in diameter. Each clip earring is 1 1/4″.

Bi-color rhinestones have two identifiable colors. The bi-color stones in this set are called bi-color vitrail medium stones with rose and emerald colors. Vitrail medium is a special coating applied to the stones.

In addition to the vibrant vitrail medium coating, the large stones have a rare shape. They are “scalloped edge” oval stones. Scalloped edge stones of this quality are found in high-end brands.

The stones are experts at reflecting light, so it is difficult to capture a clear view of the scalloped edge.

To add to the quality of this set, the marquis shaped stones are also scalloped edge stones with the vitrail medium coating. Small round stones, with the aurora borealis coating, accent the larger stones.

The quality of this set continues with the “S” shaped pavé icing decoration and thick rhodium plated metal.

Beautiful rhodium plated metal.

I do not know who made this set. Weiss and Eisenberg are famous for pavé icing but the large “S” shape in this set is uncommon. Juliana is famous for art glass and specialty stones but not the pavé icing. Schiaparelli used vitrail medium stones and scalloped edge stones; however, Schiaparelli is mostly signed and is not known for pavé icing.

There are too many possibilities to attribute this set to any of these high-end brands. I hope one day to find a signed version of this set or gain more information from another collector. Until then, it remains a quality unsigned set enjoying life in my collection.

Happy Collecting,

Love,

Julie
